Assisted Stretching is a guided, hands-on technique designed to improve flexibility, enhance mobility, reduce pain caused by tight or overactive muscles, and support overall body function. This method involves moving through a series of controlled stretches targeting the myofascial lines—interconnected pathways of muscles and fascia (the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles) that form continuous lines throughout the body.
Unlike self-stretching, assisted stretching allows you to fully relax while the practitioner safely deepens each stretch. Techniques may include static and dynamic stretching, breathwork, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF). This integrated approach helps release tension, improve posture, enhance performance, and reduce the risk of injury.

Following a deep tissue Sports massage, assisted stretching is a powerful way to enhance the results of your treatment. Deep tissue massage helps release chronic muscle tension, break up adhesions, and improve blood flow. By incorporating assisted stretching immediately afterward, we can further lengthen the muscles, improve flexibility, and reinforce proper movement patterns.Assisted stretching allows your therapist to guide your body safely through a wider range of motion than you might achieve on your own. This helps to reduce post-massage soreness, prevent muscles from reverting to a tightened state, and promote long-lasting mobility and balance. The combination of deep tissue massage and targeted stretching supports faster recovery, improved athletic performance, and overall better posture and body mechanics.
We recommend assisted stretching as an integral part of your massage session to help you move and feel your best.

Following western anatomical and neurophysiology guidelines, Myofascial Dry Needling (MDN) involves administering thin filament needles into Trigger Points (chronic knots), within muscles and connective tissue, that are associated with many musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions. In turn providing pain relief, decreased stiffness and improving flexibility and range of motion.

This combination accelerates recovery, improves flexibility, and helps lock in the benefits of dry needling. Gentle massage and stretching works as a follow-up to ensure that muscles don’t revert to dysfunctional patterns and instead adapt to a healthier state. Here’s how massage and stretching aids muscle fibers and recovery post-needling:
Restores Muscle Length and Elasticity
Dry needling can deactivate tight knots (trigger points), but massage and stretching helps restore the muscle’s natural length and flexibility. It encourages the newly released muscle fibers to lengthen and return to a healthier resting state.Promotes Collagen Alignment
Post-needling, the body initiates tissue repair and remodelling. Massage and stretching supports the alignment of collagen fibers (which are part of the healing process) in a more organized pattern, reducing the risk of scar tissue or adhesions forming within the muscle or fascia.Enhances Blood Circulation
Massage and stretching after dry needling further improves local blood flow, delivering oxygen and nutrients that support muscle recovery and help clear metabolic waste (such as lactic acid) from the treated area.Supports Neuromuscular Re-education
After a trigger point is released, the brain and nervous system need to "relearn" proper movement patterns. Massage and stretching helps by reinforcing healthy range of motion and reactivating proper muscle firing sequences.Reduces Post-Treatment Soreness
Some people feel soreness after dry needling, similar to a workout. Gentle massage or stretching can help reduce this discomfort by improving circulation and reducing muscle stiffness.
We use Jojoba oil as it’s great for all skin types, even those with sensitivities. It soothes and moisturises the skin, while also having anti-inflammatory properties.
